The Brandenburg Choral Festival of London welcomes back The Wooburn Singers and conductor Tom Hammond-Davies for this evening of light choral music. They open with Sir Michael Tippett’s catchy Five Spirituals from A Child of our Time, before moving on to celebrate the music of George Gershwin. The first half features songs and an instrumental interlude from pianist Simon Howat, who will perform his jazzy Three Preludes. After the interval, highlights from Porgy and Bess, including It ain’t necessarily soBessyou is my woman now, and the iconic song of the concert’s title, Summertime. The choir will be joined by talented vocalists Anna Sideris and Rodney Earl Clarke.
